The American Ladder Institute has declared March as a month to celebrate ladder safety. This is to acknowledge and provide awareness of the hazards that come with having employees use ladders. The main focus of the movement is to decrease the number of ladder-related injuries and fatalities.
The American Ladder Institute (ALI) is a not-for-profit association dedicated to promoting safe ladder use.
Incidents occur every day related to ladders, in fact, there are over 100 people who die and 1000's of people who suffer from an injury every year using a ladder.
In March keep your eye out for the American Ladder Institute (ALI) in observing National Ladder Safety Month, designed to raise awareness of ladder safety and to decrease the number of ladder-related injuries and fatalities.
Tips on using a ladder safely:
Always face the ladder while climbing
Use #ladders that are approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
Always maintain three points of contact (meaning two hands and one foot or two feet and one hand on the ladder at all time)
Do not use the ladder if you feel dizzy or you are going to lose your balance
Wear clean slip-resistant shoes
Before use inspect the ladder and make sure it is in good working condition
Make sure to choose a ladder that is right for what you are working on
Place the ladder on firm level ground and never a location of any kind of slippery condition
Read the safety information on the ladder before use.
